THE 2026 NCBA Golf Series gets underway on Saturday, June 27, with golfers from across Tanzania set to begin their quest for a place at the prestigious regional Grand Finale in Nairobi.

The tournament marks the start of another competitive season in what has grown into one of East Africa’s most prominent amateur golf series, bringing together players from Tanzania, Kenya, Uganda and Rwanda.

Throughout the season, golfers will compete in qualifying events for a chance to represent Tanzania at the regional finals, where the best performers from participating countries will battle for top honours.

The series has become an important fixture on the East African golfing calendar, offering players an opportunity to test themselves against some of the region’s finest amateur talent while gaining valuable competitive experience.

Tanzanian golfers enjoyed a strong showing at last year’s Grand Finale in Nairobi, led by Nsajigwa Mwansasu, Asha Rashidi and Victoria Taiko, who qualified through consistent performances during the season.

Mwansasu emerged as one of Tanzania’s standout performers, earning praise for his composure and consistency throughout the competition. Rashidi continued to demonstrate why she is regarded among the country’s leading female golfers, while Taiko impressed with her strategic play and ability to perform under pressure.

As the new season begins, attention now turns to the next group of golfers hoping to secure qualification and follow in the footsteps of last year’s representatives.

Beyond the competition itself, the series continues to contribute to the growth of golf in the region through its support of junior development programmes aimed at nurturing the next generation of players.
