YOUNG Africans Sports Club (Yanga) has officially announced the timetable for its 2026 General Election, with the electoral process set to begin on June 25 and conclude with voting on August 2, 2026.

The announcement was made by the club’s Election Committee Chairman, Advocate Malangwe Mchungahela (pictured), who outlined the key stages of the process and urged members to actively participate in electing leaders who will guide the club during the next term.

Speaking during the official launch of the election programme, Mchungahela stated that preparations for the elections are already underway following the recent branch level elections conducted across the country.

“Today we have only one agenda, which is the Yanga election. As you may recall, we recently launched branch elections. Some branches have already completed the process while others are still ongoing. We urge all branches that have not yet submitted the names of their leaders to ensure they do so by July 7,” said Mchungahela.

The election process will officially start with the announcement of the positions available for contesting, while nomination forms will be issued and received between June 25 and June 29.

Following the submission of applications, the Election Committee will conduct an initial screening of candidates before releasing a preliminary list of contestants on July 2.

Mchungahela confirmed that the club’s General Election will be held on August 2, when Young Africans members will cast their votes to elect a new leadership team.

“I would like to take this opportunity to officially announce the Young Africans SC General Election. The election is scheduled for August 2, 2026, when members will vote for new leaders of the club. Nomination forms will be available from tomorrow at the Yanga office,” he said.

He added that Article 26 of the club’s constitution outlines the qualifications required for candidates seeking various positions.

According to the committee, nomination forms for the positions of President and Vice President will cost TSh200,000, while candidates seeking committee member positions will pay TSh100,000.

The election timetable also provides room for objections and appeals to ensure transparency and fairness throughout the process.

Candidates will have an opportunity to challenge the results of the preliminary screening before undergoing interviews conducted by the Election Committee. The committee will then announce the names of candidates who meet the requirements to proceed.

In addition, candidates dissatisfied with decisions made by the Yanga Election Committee will be allowed to appeal to the Tanzania Football Federation (TFF) Election Appeals Committee.

These appeals will be lodged in mid July before final decisions are issued ahead of the publication of the final list of candidates.

The election programme begins with the announcement of the election on June 24, followed by the collection and submission of nomination forms from June 25 to June 29.

Initial screening will take place between June 30 and July 1, while interviews are scheduled for July 6 to July 8. Appeals will be heard between July 17 and July 21, with final rulings expected by July 23.

The final list of candidates will be published between July 24 and July 27, while official election campaigns will run from July 30 to August 1.

Voting and the election of Yanga SC’s new leadership will take place on August 2, bringing the month-long electoral process to a close.
